Increasing water consumption in pregnancy

The most widespread recommendation is that pregnant women should increase their water intake by an additional 300 ml over the recommended 2 liters per day. However, factors such as physical activity or living in a hot climate will increase water requirements, since water loss is increased in these situations.

In addition, the vomiting of the first trimester of pregnancy causes the woman to lose water, which can be accentuated if the woman also drinks less due to nausea. For this reason, special care should be taken to stay properly hydrated at all times.
