The appearance of stretch marks in pregnant women is quite common, especially between the second and third trimester of pregnancy. In addition, there are several factors that can increase the risk of stretch marks on the skin, such as, for example, the following:
- A high body mass index (BMI).
- Excessive weight gain during pregnancy.
- Advanced gestational weeks.
- Maternal age.
- Multiple pregnancy.
- Polyhydramnios.
In addition, if it is not the woman's first pregnancy or the fetus has a high weight, the risk of stretch marks is also increased.
